Dear Scouting Families,

Over the last two weeks we have been working on a plan to offer weekend opportunities to our Scouts.  Since that time, we had a few other questions come our way.

One question we have been getting is “What about Cub day camps?”.

At this point we have a small group of people looking into the protocols that would need to be followed to open a traditional day camp.  As you can imagine, groups of elementary school aged youth bring a new set of obstacles that would need to be overcome.  Whether we run our program the same way as we always have or provide an alternative, we wanted to let you know we are working on it.

Webelos Camp-We are looking to reschedule Webelos camp to later this fall as a weekend activity.  Once the dates are confirmed, they will be published.

As far as summer weekend plans go…….

We are offering several weekends this summer where Scouts BSA can work on merit badges and take part in other fun Scouting activities.  Materials for merit badges are included in the cost along with a shirt, face covering and a patch.

For Cub families, the Fun Pack Weekend is just that, “Fun”.  Take part in what you like!

In the case of all weekends, the trading post will be open, but following the same rules for occupancy as retail stores.

As we stated earlier, keeping everyone safe will be a major point of emphasis.  Scouts will be regularly reminded to follow proper hygiene protocols, social distancing rules and wearing face coverings when around others.  Registration information will be available later in about a week.

More good news, range days will be restarting in June!

While we hope you all take advantage of these activities, we can also announce that the camps will again be open for short term rentals when organized events are not taking place.  Campmaster teams will be trained on proper sanitization protocols so when units arrive, they arrive to a safe camp.

While a lot of things are changing, slowly progressing towards normalcy, while on camp property you will still be expected to take safety precautions.

Lastly, we should have news in the next few weeks on when the Scout Shop in Portland will be re-opening.

We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Yours in Scouting,
Matt Klutzaritz
